Before adopting...
Thank you for considering adopting from Wellcat!
Before completing your application, we’d like to explain how our adoption process works and what you can expect.
Adoption Fee
Our adoption fee is £130 per cat or kitten, which helps us cover some of the costs of caring for our cats before they join their forever families.
Before adoption, our cats receive:
- Vaccinations
- Neutering or spaying
- Microchipping
- Flea and worm treatment
- SNAP testing for FIV and FeLV
- Dental checks, with treatment where needed
- 6 weeks of free Agria pet insurance
We’ll also provide you with an ID code to access information about your cat’s medical history
Finding the right match
You’re welcome to express an interest in a particular cat, but please remember that our cats’ health and happiness always come first. Every cat has different needs, so we’ll consider your home, family circumstances and lifestyle when deciding which cat would be the best fit.
For example, a cat who isn’t comfortable around dogs wouldn’t be suitable for a home with a dog.
This means we can’t guarantee that you’ll adopt the cat you initially expressed an interest in. We’ll always take your preferences into account, but we may suggest another cat who we believe would be happier in your home and a better match for you.
Adoption Process
Once you’ve submitted your application, our adoption team will review it and ask you to provide a short video home check.
This will involve showing us the front of your property and the street outside, along with the ground floor of your home, including the spaces your cat would have access to.
We’ll provide you with full instructions when the time comes, so there’s no need to prepare anything just yet!
Please note: your video will only be viewed by our adoption team on a single device. It won’t be shared or stored and will be deleted once reviewed.
If your home check is approved, we’ll invite you to visit Wellcat and meet our cats. Together, we’ll work towards finding the right companion for you and your home.
Once everyone is happy with the match, we’ll ask you to provide photo ID and proof of address, before arranging a date for you to bring your new furry friend home!
